What is the Marathon?

Students will have two weeks to complete the laps in May (if there are rain days we will go into the 3rd week- we will not hold the marathon inside). Laps are recorded daily by parent volunteers. Students who run 7 laps a day (both fall and spring) will complete a full marathon and receive a medal at the end of the school year. Students who complete a half marathon (13.1 miles) will also receive a medal. We are making it a safe and fun outside event. If there is rainy weather, we will not have the marathon that day and extend into the following week for a total of 10 days.

Parents–Please have your child dress appropriately during the dates of the marathon, including sneakers for footwear. If you would like to volunteer to help at the lunch recesses Sign Up Here

There is also a Virtual Marathon option. To participate is easy—encourage your student(s) to walk or run for at least 30 minutes a day, for a maximum of 10 days! Keep track of how many days your student participates.

Details of Virtual Marathon:
-The days do not need to be consecutive–can be any 10 days from September 21st through October 9th!
-Walking or running for 30 minutes a day will count for 7 laps at Rockfield!
-The laps will be added to laps that each student completed in the Fall 2020 marathon.
-Each student can earn 70 laps this spring if they walk/run the full 10 days, which is a half marathon, and earning a silver medal!
-You will be sent a google form to submit the TOTAL number of days your student did the marathon. This will be due by May 26th.

Have FUN, enjoy some fresh air and movement, and GOOOOO ROCKFIELD STUDENTS!
